Sydney Sweeney got her turn as host of Saturday Night Live and was not afraid to address the rumors surrounding her life.
Right at the top of her monologue, Sweeney poked fun at the box office results of Madame Web, the Marvel-Sony film in which she co-starred with Dakota Johnson.
“I am so happy to be here. My name is Sydney Sweeney. You might have seen me in Anyone But You or Euphoria,” she said. “You definitely did not see me in Madame Web.”

Excited for “everyone to get to know the real me,” Sweeney said, “I feel like people only see me as the girl on TV who screams, cries and has sex. Sometimes it’s all three at the same time.”
Sweeney said she was from Spokane, Washington and had a bond with border state Idaho, which she uses to her advantage. The star said that when people ask her where she’s from, she tells them she’s from Washington. However, when uncomfortable situations come up like when they asked, “Did you go to a Trump-themed party for your mom? I say, ‘Ida-ho.'”
The White Lotus Season 1 star was referencing social media photos of her mom’s birthday, where some of the attendees were wearing pro-Trump gear.
Sweeney also addressed several rumors about her that are circulating online. Recently, on TikTok, she was accused of lying about working at Universal Studios as the host of the Tram Tour.
“Someone online accused me of lying about that, which is insane … if I didn’t work there, how would I know all of the Universal characters, like Shrok, the Munions and Harry Porter,” she joked.
Sweeney then addressed rumors of an alleged affair she was having with her Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell.
“That’s obviously not true,” she said. “Me and my fiancé produced the movie together and he was there the entire shoot. And I just want to let everyone know, he’s the man of my dreams and we’re still together and stronger than ever.”
Sweeney said that her fiancé was at SNL to support her and asked to cut to him in the audience — they cut to Powell who was sitting in the audience.
“No, that’s not my fiancé; he’s in my dressing room,” Sweeney said.
