EXCLUSIVE: Over three years after The Black List and the then MGM launched their feature film script writing partnership to find and amplify new voices, the team-up has found their fourth and final recipient.
Audrey Rosenberg will receive a two-step Guild minimum open script deal with Amazon MGM Studios as part of their two-year feature film script writing collaboration with the Black List. “We’re incredibly proud that the Black List has been a part of Audrey’s professional story as it continues to evolve, says Black List founder Franklin Leonard of the Wild Animals scribe. “Very excited to read and see what comes next and everyone else should be too,” added Leonard.
Coming out of the new talent and new perspectives initiative, unveiled back in December 2020, the excitement was clearly contagious.
“We are so excited to be working with Audrey for the final segment of our collaboration with the Black List,” states Winnie Carrillo, Amazon MGM Studios development executive. “With immense talent and a unique perspective to their writing, Audrey exemplifies the next generation of talent we are thrilled to be able to champion through this program. We look forward to welcoming them into the Amazon MGM family.”
Previous recipients of the MGM Feature Partnership were Naren Henry, Jennifer Grand, and Alex Liu. An Iris Prize nominee, Rosenberg specializes in character-driven gothic, folk, psychological and body horror helmed by queer and female characters.
A former writer’s assistant and creative executive for Killers of the Flower Moon screenwriter Eric Roth, Rosenberg’s debut narrative short, Skin picked up the Jury Special Mention at Outfest 2019. Wild Animals grew out of the 2022 Black List x Women in Film feature writers’ residency, the 2023 Sundance Screenwriters Lab and the 2023 Sundance Directors Lab. At the latter, Rosenberg and the genre Wild Animals was awarded the recipient of the K Period Media x Sundance Institute horror fellowship, the Maja KrisEn Directing Fellowship, and got some additional support from the Robert Gore Rifkind Foundation.
Repped by Anonymous Content as both a writer and director Rosenberg filmed a Wild Animals proof of concept after being awarded the Black List x UPS Unstoppable Grant in 2022.
