“Let’s bring the thunder!” So begins the official trailer for The Thundermans Return, the feature-length movie continuation of Nickelodeon‘s hit live-action superhero comedy series, starring the original series cast. The trailer was released today by Nick and Paramount+.
Starring Kira Kosarin and Jack Griffo, reprising their roles as twins Phoebe and Max, the story follows the duo who are enjoying their superhero lifestyle in a new city. But when one ‘save’ goes awry, the Thundermans are sent back to Hiddenville, according to the film’s description.
“While Hank (Chris Tallman) and Barb (Rosa Blasi) enjoy their return, Chloe (Maya Le Clark) develops a new friend group, and Billy (Diego Velazquez) and Nora (Addison Riecke) begin a normal high school life, Max and Phoebe are determined to regain their superhero status,” the description continued.
The Thundermans Return will be available to stream on Paramount+ in the U.S., Canada, Australia, the UK, Latin America and Italy on Thursday, March 7, and premiere on Nickelodeon in the U.S. the same evening at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) and in multiple global markets, including the UK, Italy and Latin America.
The film will also premiere in additional Nickelodeon and P+ International markets later this month.
The Thundermans Return is executive produced by Jed Spingarn (Big Time Rush, Jimmy Neutron) and directed by Trevor Kirschner (The Thundermans, Raven’s Home, The Conners). Stars Kira Kosarin and Jack Griffo are executive producing.
Dan Cross (The Thundermans, Julie and the Phantoms) and David Hoge (The Thundermans, Julie and the Phantoms) also serve as executive producers. The teleplay is by Spingarn, with a story by Spingarn, Sean W. Cunningham (The Thundermans) and Marc Dworkin (The Thundermans), based on characters created by Spingarn. Production of the movie for Nickelodeon Studios is overseen by Zack Olin and Shauna Phelan, Co-Heads of Nickelodeon & Awesomeness Live-Action. Brian Banks serves as Nickelodeon’s Executive in Charge of Production.
The Thundermans premiered on Nickelodeon in October 2013 and wrapped its four-season run in 2018, ranking as the number-one series across all TV among Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11. Created and executive produced by three-time Emmy Award-winner Jed Spingarn, the scripted half-hour series follows superhero twins with opposite personalities, Phoebe and Max Thunderman, as they navigate their way through school, friends and a family of extraordinary superheroes, all while keeping their true identities a secret.
The show has recently seen a resurgence following its 4Q21 launch on streaming, where it quickly became the top title across all SVOD for the quarter among Kids 6-11; and it continued to rank among the top titles with Kids 6-11 through 2022. The entire series is currently available to stream on Paramount+.
