Korea’s Finecut Boards Gangster Action-Comedy ‘Boss’ Ahead Of Filmart
Seoul-based sales company Finecut has boarded international sales on the action-comedy Boss and will launch sales at this week’s Filmart in Hong Kong.
The synopsis reads: This action-comedy follows gang members embroiled in fierce competition, struggling not for the title of the next boss but to achieve their own dreams in normal life.
Starring are JO Woo-jin (Inside Men), who wants to run the family’s Chinese restaurant, Jung Kyung-ho (Men of Plastic), who believes in the destiny of being a Tango dancer and Park Ji-hwan (The Roundup), who is most eager to be the boss but nobody wants him. The film is directed by RA Hee-chan (Going By The Book). Boss is produced and presented by Hive Media Corp, the production company behind Kim Sung-soo’s record-breaking 12.12: The Day. The first exclusive footage of the film will be available at Finecut’s booth during Filmart.
Finecut’s Hong Kong slate includes forthcoming titles like Noise, a multi-sensory and realistic horror following a woman with a hearing aid haunted by inexplicable sounds linked to her sister’s disappearance and attracting a malevolent presence. Another highlight is Exorcism Chronicles: The Beginning, a 3D occult animation about the first adventure of a team of four individuals bestowed with special powers rooted in religion, the supernatural, and legend: an excommunicated priest, a young woman with telekinesis, a man who lost his sister to a malevolent spirit, and a child prodigy skilled in arcane magic. Both films are currently in post-production.
Finecut’s slate also features A Traveler’s Needs, the winner of this year’s Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize from Hong Sangsoo starring Isabelle Huppert, and A Normal Family, a work by veteran director HUR Jin-ho, which follows the intense dilemma faced by two families dealing with a crime committed by their children, featuring Sul Kyung-gu (Kill Booksoon), Jang Dong-gun (Rampant), KIM Hee-ae (Queenmaker) and Claudia KIM (The Avengers: Age Of Ultron).
Filmart runs March 13-16.
